Summary
My favourite subject at school was science. I enjoyed it so much I went on to teach it for many years so I could help others to understand and enjoy it as much as I do. It is very satisfying to see someone begin to make sense of ideas or problems they had found confusing to begin with.Qualifications
- MEd Leadership and Management (Open University)
- PGCE (secondary science) (Queen's University, Belfast)
- BSc (Hons) Biochemistry 2.1 (Queen's University, Belfast)
Experience
I have taught general science to age 11-13 pupils, GCSE combined science , GCSE biology and A level biology to pupils of all ability levels for 26 years. This included 2 spells of on-line teaching during COVID which involved video lessons. Pupils have always commented on my ability to explain information in a clear and simple way which was easy to understand and remember. A key part of my teaching style is to include lots of practice on exam technique so that pupils are best prepared for external exam papers.I have tutored numerous pupils face to face in each of these areas. I have also tutored junior science and iGCSE Chemistry and IGCSE Biology with Oxford Open Learning over a period of time.
