Experience
A dedicated professional with twenty years experience of teaching Sociology. I taught in a large sixth form college, where I spent ten years as a curriculum manager. I decided I want to focus solely on teaching and learning. I have taught thousands of students across a wide range of abilities on both A level and GCSE programmes. I have also spent several years teaching online supporting adult learners from 18 -62 years old!Having completed my Sociology degree at the University of Leicester, I then completed my PGCE in Manchester. In addition to my teaching and previous management responsibilities, I have written a blog about Sociology and I have served on the executive body of the Association of Teachers of Social Sciences through which I met lots of wonderfully eccentric sociologists!
I am a published author with Harper Collins publishing house for whom I have written an A-Z introduction to Sociology (Key Concepts in Sociology) I found writing a book to be a challenging ,but rewarding experience and I got the opportunity to delve deeper into the subject I love. I also taught English in the South of France for one year before completing my PGCE.
I have extensive up to date training in both safeguarding and mental health and I understand the impact and challenges of mental health for students following the pandemic.
